Greg Magie

Dr. Magie is founder and music director of Symphony of the Vines, a chamber orchestra based in San Luis Obispo County, established in 2010. Symphony of the Vines performs a yearly series of concerts in unique and historic venues. Since 2018 he has served as principal guest conductor for California Opera Association and he has conducted their productions of La Traviata, Carmen, and Norma. This year he will lead productions of Madama Butterfly and Hänsel und Gretel.

Greg has guest conducted the Redlands Symphony, Pasadena Lyric Opera, Santa Maria Philharmonic, and San Luis Obispo Symphony. He led the orchestral programs at Pomona College, San Francisco State University, Houghton College, and Graceland University, where his duties included leading opera productions and choral concerts.

As an active performer on the horn, he performs with local orchestras in the California Central Coast region and was previously a member of the Redlands Symphony. He holds performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music, University of Redlands, and UCLA.
